FIRE PREVENTION AND PROTECTION OF BUILDING COURSE

CERTIFICATION
 
- A participant must attain at least 80% of physical attendance to be eligible to take the examination at the end of the course. Those who pass the examination will be awarded a Certificate in Fire Prevention and Protection in Building issued by Fire Safety Managers' Association (Singapore) and jointly supported by Civil Defence Academy.
   
COURSE OBJECTIVE
  On completion of this course, participants should be familiar with:
 
- The basic working knowledge on fire science and engineering.
- The various types of fire protection installations and equipment in their premises and their operational control and maintenance.
- The means and knowledge to respond to fire alarm activation, fight incipient fire, perform rescue and evacuation.
- The basic knowledge of first aid.
- The basic requirement of fire safety installations and maintenance.
- The basic working knowledge to conduct building inspection and testing of fire protection system.
- The role and responsibilities of a Fire Safety Managers.

ENTRY REQUIREMENT
 
Participants are required to meet the following minimum eligibility requirements:
- Supervisors responsible for fire safety, security, building management and property maintenance.
- Minimum 3 years' supervisory experience
- Completed Secondary 4 Education/ GCE N level or NTC 3
- Other qualifications and related work experience may be considered on an individual merit
   
Graduate from this course (Certificate in Fire Prevention & Protection in Building) who possess GCE 'O' Level Passes in at least three subjects (any subjects) can enrol for Fire Safety Manager's Course conducted by Civil Defence Academy subject to CDA’s approval.

Frequency : Tuesday and Thursday (unless advised)
Time : 6.30pm to 9.30pm

Closing Date : 28 February 2009
Course Fees : $680/= (No GST)
Refund of Fee : 80% will be refunded if the notice in writing of withdrawal is received by FSMAS at least 2 weeks before the course commencement date. No refund will be given if notice of withdrawal is made less than 2 weeks before the course commencement date. Replacement of participant is allowed if the request is made before the course commencement date subject to FSMAS approval.
